Affiliate Marketing is One of the Best Ways to Make Money Online

So, what is the best home business to start? Depending on whom you ask, the answers will vary. But anyone who actually makes a living online will tell you that affiliate marketing is the way to go. People simply love the idea of affiliate marketing. In fact, many are taking it up full-time. You can make thousands a year advertising other peoples products online–you are paid every time you help generate a sale. But it is not that simpleyou have to know exactly what to do if you are to make money.

So lets quickly run over the some of basics of affiliate marketing…

With affiliate marketing, you are promoting someone else’s product, website, or service. When a visitor clicks on your affiliate link on your website (or through your ads) and makes a purchase from the merchant you are promoting, you get a commission. The commission amount you are paid is based on the commission % and the price of the product. In the end, both the merchant and affiliate win as they help grow each other’s businesses.

From a merchants perspective…

Companies like the idea of using affiliates to grow their business, so they usually offer generous commission to lure potential affiliates in (up to 75%). Companies can then have thousands of affiliates promoting their products and only have to pay the affiliate if a sale is made.

From an affiliates perspective…

You can work with as many companies as you’d like when you’re an affiliate. All you have to do after you get your affiliate link is get as much traffic as possible to the merchant website.

Many companies can’t do without affiliates-who usually do the boatload of advertising.

The lifestyle you lead…

Affiliate marketing allows you to work at your own pace and be your own boss. You choose the hours you want to work. The amount of money you can make with affiliate marketing is virtually limitless.

With that being said, you can clearly see why affiliate marketing is the best way to make money online.

Now lets run over some important rules…

Rule #1: Know the products you are promoting

To me, familiarizing yourself with the product you are promoting is the key to affiliates writing a comprehensive review. When you actually own the product that you recommend, your visitors will be in awe of your in depth analysis (lets face it, you can’t fake a good review).

Your review should point out the good, as well as the bad, of a product/service; you must be unbiased at all cost. If you neglect writing a good review, then your customers won’t believe you, and they will quickly exit your site in favor of a more reliable source. This is a rule that many affiliate marketers look past, but I guarantee if they would follow this first rule they would have sales going through the roof.

When I first started using this technique a couple of years ago I simply couldn’t believe how much it helped my sales conversions.

So don’t be lazy; know your product and then write the best review possible.

Rule #2: If you bought it, you should use it.

It shocks me when people purchase a book or guide but don’t actually use it. You have got to put your plan in motion and use the products you purchase to your advantage. That means you must read and reread every chapter and implement every technique you learn. That is exactly what I do and I make a living online because of it.

The bottom line is that most people don’t want to read and follow simple instructions; they want an easier way out. What you want to do is read and implement. If you do that, you will have great success with affiliate marketing.

While I know many people hate the idea of buying anything, it truly is an advantage when you know something that your competition doesn’t. So rule# 2 is to pick up a quality affiliate marketing guide, read it, and put it in motion by applying all of the techniques that you learn. If you are serious about making money online, you have to learn as much as possible.

Rule #3: Choosing the right products

If you want any kind of success with affiliate marketing you are going to have to choose the right products. That means you must join a good affiliate programthe last thing you need is to be in business with a bad merchant who doesn’t pay as promised and/or has a dismal affiliate program altogether.

Most affiliate programs are free to join. You must spend time finding high quality affiliate programs if you are to make money. But if you want to save time and choose from quality merchants all in one place, you can just check out some affiliate networks. All you have to do is sign up once and you’re introduced to thousands of products from many different companies.

The main advantage of an affiliate network is that, unlike individual affiliate programs, they will pay you from their network as opposed to individual companies sending you separate paychecks. For example, if I join the affiliate programs of Citibank, Circuit City, and Best Buy, I would receive 3 separate commission paychecks. But if I were to sign up to these programs directly through a network I would receive one big fat paycheck instead of three separate checks.

The other advantage of the networks is that affiliate programs are ranked so you know which ones are doing good and which ones you should stay away from.

Bonus Tip # 1: Don’t always go after the products with highest commission payouts, they tend to convert lesseven though there are exceptions such as gambling and computer products that convert very well in spite of higher prices. For now, you should stick with lower priced ($50 or less) products until you are more experienced with affiliate marketing; they convert at incredible clips.

When you apply this rule, you will have more customers that are willing to pay at your doorstep.

Rule #4: Getting Traffic

It’s not just the products; it is your marketing ability that will make you money. The marketing methods that you use will ultimately earn you the money, not the products alone. And one technique that you are going to have to master is getting as much traffic as possible. Lets face it, no matter how great your product is, you still need traffic.

I will briefly cover the best ways to get traffic.

Lets start with…

Good ol’ SEO…

First, you should apply some white hat Search Engine Optimization: Link exchanges, writing high quality content, submitting your website to the major and second tier directories, writing articles, writing press releases etc.

Use viral marketing to grow your business…

Take advantage of viral marketing. Give away free reports, free ebooks, and free downloads. You should make it possible that your subscribers can give it away to there visitors and audience as well. This will quickly spread the name of your business and generate unprecedented traffic.

Pay-per-click advertising…

Last, but certainly not least, is pay-per-click advertising. The best PPC service is Google Adwords. Running a successful campaign can get a bit tricky, but if you get it right, you receive highly targeted traffic instantly.

If you use these three techniques, you give yourself a much better chance of getting a high volume of quality traffic.

Rule #5: You are going to need a website

In the last lesson I covered different ways you can get traffic. Now we are going to talk about the importance of a website. Yes, you can send traffic directly to you merchants by Direct Linking and see some success without a website, but to really take advantage of affiliate marketing you must a have good website. With a solid website, you can “wow” your visitors with great content, take advantage of email marketing, write reviews for different products, provide reliable information, sell ads (such as Google Adsense), and so much more.

Rule #6: Using pop ups to your advantage…

When someone visits your website, you only have about 5-10 seconds to grab the visitors attention. What happens if you do all that work to get traffic and the visitor leaves and never returns? You have wasted time and money advertising and implementing SEO techniques. A good way you can turn that traffic into loyal visitors is to have popups that advertise your newsletter or any other particular offers you may have. What happens is a customer likes your websites presentation and sees a pop-up window and decides to give you their email address for future references.

I highly recommend you take advantage of using popovers; they are great attention grabbers and it is a must for any affiliate marketer looking to grow his or her opt-in list. Remember your opt-in list is where some of your most loyal customers will come from.

Last Thoughts…

Affiliate marketing is a dream come true for anyone looking to earn money from home. It has changed my life and I am now doing things that I never thought possible. If you work hard, it will happen for you as well.

Comment Spam – a Huge Problem for Word Press Blog Owners

The blogsphere is clogged with blogs about comment spam, but what exactly is comment spam? The first thing a blogger needs to establish is a clear definition. It is a form of spamindexing – in another sense, it is a form of splogging. This type of splogging hi-jacks blogs to advertise something instead of creating a fake website to promote it. The objective is to build links and increase their web pages rank.

The genius behind comment spam is impressive. Instead of creating a splog, or fake blog, a person will leave comments that includes a link to their website in other peoples blogs all across the Internet. This will raise their websites rank, and turns comment spam into another from of unsolicited junk mail.

Comment Spam is a white hat SEO trick. It is not wrong, but it is not right. Google has taken the first step against comment spam by banning or penalizing both the websites and the host blog. WordPress blogs are hardest hit because most webmasters do not install the module that prevents people from entering a link into the comment. There are default tools, but few blog owners understand how to activate them.

These unwanted and malicious comments affect a blogs rank in both the weblogs and search engines. The blog is damaged as well as the web site. Heres how it works:

Google bases a web pages rank on the relevance of the content to the meta keywords and title.

Google also uses keyword anchored links and the content on the following page to establish rank. To explain this, lets say the blog is about flowers. The link in the reply uses the keywords make money and leads to a website on finance. This means the blog page, and the following website will decrease in rank.

The most common perpetrators are comment spam robots. They hit every available post from a single blog. The sly spam robots pose a major problem because they leave their ad, but they also leave little comments, great post – keep up the good work. This can be infuriating when attached to an editorial or something personal, like a story on spousal abuse.

There are ways of fighting back. Akismet, the spam catcher for WordPress.com and many of their bloggers caught almost 2 million spam attempts in one day.

The first method to try is to install anti-spam plug-ins in WordPress – and activate them. Both the Karma and Bad Word plug-ins need to be installed.

Another method involves skimming the blog, reading old posts and looking for the criminals who would violate your blogging attempts. One technique for foiling their attempts is to follow the link all the way to the affiliate site. Then, report them. Reputable companies WILL ban their affiliate link.

Little can be done for the kids who go through blogs and post comments about porn, or who simply like to swear and curse! WordPress is working hard to stay ahead of this type of spam, though, and it is possible to update the file of abusive words.

CNet, January 9 2006, reported that comment spam is now illegal in the USA. This might have some effect, but only time will tell. Until then, use the plug-ins and stay informed.

A SEO Services Company is Responsible for Creating Traffic and Website!

A SEO services company is responsible for creating traffic and ranking in one’s website. They are also responsible in monitoring and making sure that the traffic and ranking is maintained for a period of time.  For more detail go to: www.seo-prediction.com. Because of this, there are a lot of new SEO companies that are trying to create name in the industry. Most of them are really true and hard working but there are also those who just wanted to scam and earn money from other people.

The use of Internet is spreading fast all over the world. Almost all transactions are now being made over the Internet and so a lot of businesses have started to create their websites. They find large traffic with Internet users.     For more detail go to: www.the20seotools.com. Some even say that it is cheaper to market and create advertisements over the Internet than in other forms of media. In order to achieve the traffic, the website owners look for the help of SEO companies. The SEO company provides the right elements to make your website attractive to your target audience. It uses several tools to catch the attention of people and to check the products and services that you are offering on your site.

The price for the services of a SEO company is competitive. It can give any website owner a run for their money. Once you find the right SEO Company for you, you are sure that the price you paid for is compensated. But what if you were able to get the services of a fake or scam SEO Company?

In order to prevent this thing to happen, you should be cautious in looking for the needed SEO Company. There are some tips that you can consider before grabbing the first SEO Company that offers you their services.

Avoid getting SEO companies that send their advertisements through scam emails. If an SEO company sent you an email informing you of the services that they offer, then do some research about them. This is the initial tactic of scam companies. More reliable SEO companies do not need to advertise themselves because their clients speak for them. Satisfied clients will truly be too happy to share to others the services that they received from their SEO Company. They will surely refer them to friends and acquaintances that need their services as well. It is better to inquire from SEO Company that is referred to you than from those that you just received emails from.

Do not bite to the SEO Company’s promise of achieving high rank immediately after you acquired their services. This is indeed an appealing offer but you should watch out. It is not easy to achieve a number 1 rank in the span of two-weeks or less. It requires a lot of talent to achieve this goal. You can expect to gain a high rank with the help of the SEO Company but it requires time to achieve it. It is better to go for the low but continuously moving up rank rather than the fast high rank but done in illegal manner.

Seo – What Is Link Spamming?

Link spamming is a form of black hat SEO that tries to exploit weaknesses in link-based ranking algorithms such as the one used by Google’s PageRank algorithm. PageRank give a higher ranking to a website that is linked to many other websites so the idea is to add as many links as possible to a page to try and boost your page rankings.

There are several forms of link spamming. An easy one is called link farming which involves creating communities of pages that refer to each other in order to bulk up a link index.

Another tactic is called the “Sybil attack” where you put up links to unrelated but popular sites where visitors will not see them. This is the forging of multiple identities for malicious intent, named after the famous woman with the multiple personality disorder. A spammer may create multiple web sites at different domain names that all link to each other, such as fake blogs known as spam blogs. Another type is called Wiki spam, which uses the open editing platform of wiki systems to place links on a page.

Yet another popular technique is Splogging also known as spam blogging. This is the placing of links randomly on other sites in blogs, forums, guest books and forums.

Page hijacking is so common it is ridiculous. Web hosts do it when you forget to renew your domain name. Page hijacking is achieved by creating a rogue copy of a popular website which shows contents similar to the original to a web crawler, but redirects web surfers to unrelated or malicious websites. Some link spammers monitor DNS records for domains that will expire soon, and then buy them when they expire and replace the pages with links to their pages.

Link Spamming is classified as a high risk way to do effective SEO, you risk having your domain banned by Google if you do.

Are you a Black Hatter?

Are You A Black Hatter? If you are using these techniques, you are a Black Hatter (arranged alphabetically).

– Buying Expired Domains: Basically checking on expiring domain’s DNS record and PageRank and later buy them when they expire and replace the pages with links to their pages.

– Cloaking: Presenting a different content to search engine spiders than you display to user’s browser. This can also be used in ethical SEO

– Doorway Pages: Nonsense pages full of keywords for the purpose of sending a visitor to a page. Also known as landing pages, jump pages, gateway pages, entry pages, bridge pages, portal pages and many more.

– Duplicate Content: Copying other site’s written work with little or no changes. This usually depends on the content used, if it’s freely redistributable or copyrighted.

– Hidden Text and Links: Text that is the same color as the background or the font is too small to read.

– Keywords that are unrelevant to the site: Optimizing keywords which are not related to your site

– Keywords Stuffing: Excessive and repeatitive keywords in alt tags, meta tags, content, etc. (isulong seoph, isulong seoph, isulong seoph, isulong seoph, isulong seoph, isulong seoph, all for the sake of 3-7% keyword density)

– Link Farms: A network of pages on one or more Web sites, with the sole intention of improving the search engine ranking of those sites.

– Multiple Domains without Redirecting: Using multiple domains and not redirecting to a single domain will cause duplicate content penalty. (Buying multiple domains for isulong seoph entries, for example isulongnaseoph.com,isulongnaseoph.net and isulongnaseoph.org all having the same content, instead of redirecting the other two domains to one site)

– Pages that contant spyware and viruses (Providing spyware, porn, and viruses. Who would do something like that?)

– Google Bomb – It’s targeting a specific site by creating links to it using a specific keyword. (For example, promoting an isulong seoph site by creating links everywhere, adding keyword rich text link isulong seoph, no wonder there are over 500,000 results when searching “isulong seoph”)

– Google Bowling: Also known as Google Sabotage, Submitting competitors sites to link farms to get them penalized

– Scraping: Pulling information from other websites voilating copyright law and uses them mainly for monetizing the site using advertising. (This is when a site has no real content and uses a scraper tool to get content from other sites)

– Selling PageRank: Providing links to other sites is good, but selling for the sake of PageRank is not.

– Using small images: Using blank images and stuff it with alt keywords or hidden links.

– Spam Comments: Posting fake and random comments on blogs and guestbooks with link to your site

– Spam Emails: Telling everyone about your site knowing they are not interested.

– Spam Referer: Commonly known as Referer Spam, this involves involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer url. Search engines base the importance of sites by the number of different sites linking to them. With this, a referer-log spam can be used to increase their rankings of the spammer’s sites, by getting the referer logs of many sites to link to them.

– Spam Ping: Commonly known as Sping, this involves sending pings from blogs to a ping server excessively in a short span of time.

– Sybil attack: A spammer may create multiple web sites at different domain names that all link to each other, such as fake blogs.

– Too Many Links: A page with more 100 urls will drain your PageRank (It is recommended to have less than 100 links since more than that can drain one’s PageRank in the long run, unless all the links are good high PR and relevant reciprocal sites)

– Using unauthorized software to submit pages, check rankings and other automatic queries. (Lazy people use easy to use tools to do their job, unlike ethical SEOs who are working for days and nights promoting the site)

– URL Redirection: Redirecting to another site without a user’s intervention. This is acceptable by using 301 redirect, but using Meta Tag redirect, CGI and Javascripts will be a SEO problem.

If you are guilty with any of these, you’re in BIG Trouble dude. Black Hat SEO is very common to SEO newbies who have no idea what are the right methods to optimize their sites. They want everything done as fast and easy as possible. This is very understandable, but they should stop doing these illegal methods immediately.
