Is there an SEO advantage of hosting my blog on an external established Blog system rather than my own?
I have a business blog section on my website. It’s basically an area of the website I can regularly update so that the content on my website is fresh. This is supposed to be good for my website in terms of search engines crawlers (apparently they’ll return more often).
But would I benefit more if I also have a blog in a proper blogging environment such as Blogger, WordPress etc. with links to various related pages in my website. I guess the upside would be that I would have relevent inbound links but the downside would be that I wouldn’t have the blog on my own site which means no regularly updated content.
Unless I run the blogs simultaneaously, but would that be seen as some sort of Black Hat technique due to the content being duplicated on an external blog which is linking back?
HELP!
Thanks in advance.
Having both blog on my website and on an external system is an option I’m open to, although I feared that I may be marked as a black hat by Search Engines.
If not then I may as well go for that.
You seem right on the ball with this one…
Believe me, if you do both, I can assure you that you wont be marked as black hat, don’t worry about it. I suggest that you do both, it will truly help you in the end.
However, if you need to chose one or the other, which do you think will attract more visitors? Clearly, it seems like your goal is to rank higher; but itsn’t the goal in the end to recieve more visitors?
If you have an outside blog, how many people will see it? Will it do anything for you? Will you market that blog? If so, how?
How many people are currently looking at your website? Will a blog on your website help retain visitors and help sell your company from there?
Depending on the search engine, there’s far more to SEO than just links; inbound & external. It’s also how many clicks on the page once visited, how long vistitors stay on the page, and so on.
Inwhich case, having both will help trumendously!

Google has a Page Ranking system and expects density keywords. You want to avoid cramming. Cramming to Google’s, MSN, Yahoo, etc are not permitted. Your first lines, as well as your centerline, and then the ending paragraphs should have your keywords within the body of the article, as well as somewhere in between. Exploit keywords that submit messages to your targeted audience.
What makes, one website in front of other websites is the direct HITS. If your web keywords are steady, it will drive traffic to your web pages. This is something that Google commends. You want to avoid certain SEO tactics however. You can learn some of the basic SEO legal laws on the Internet. Learning these laws will prevent you from getting the boot. This means you will not be listed in Google’s online indexes or directories. This further means that you will not have a rank on Google’s search engine.

Top 5 Important Details Before Hiring an SEO Company
Search Engine Optimization or simply SEO has become one of the most successful tools in internet marketing. Everywhere, online business entrepreneurs are beginning to employ this internet marketing strategy to boost their success in their online businesses.
Though it is quite easy to find an SEO company that’ll work on the campaign, locating a suitable one is another thing. Also, once an SEO campaign starts, it is important that clients should also participate in every step the team takes. SEO “is” a team-based project and participation from both the SEO team and the client can tip the scales between success and failure.
Here are the top 5 details that a client should take before hiring an SEO company.
Granting Full Access
One of the details that a client should be aware of before hiring an SEO company is granting a full access on their website. SEO campaigns usually involve the website having extensive but recommended changes in it. These changes are commonly seen on Meta tags, Alt tags and on the link partners’ page. Changes may even involve a full reconstruction of the whole website.
So it is important that clients must inform their IT team of changes that can be done in an SEO campaign.

Full Control of the site’s Web Copy
Apart from the construction of the website, the site’s web copy should also undergo some minor or sometimes extensive reconstruction. Because of the introduction of systematically researched keywords for SEO, web copies should be able to integrate these important elements.
Before hiring an SEO company, clients should have a talk with their team about the changes that are going to be done in their web copy. This is important because things will almost certainly need to run copy changes through the legal department before they go live. If the company sells medicine, for example, the copy may need to be run by its manufacturer for accuracy.
Knowledge of the Current System
A good SEO company always knows if the site’s construct can impede some implementations of recommended elements to help boost the success of an SEO campaign. One of which is CMS or the Content Management Systems.
Some CMS, especially the older ones, do not allow changes to be made in the system that are beneficial to search engines. What kind of reasonable success can I expect from my website?
I started my website about 6 months ago and have had about 2000 vistors to my site since then
http://www.thealphaguy.com
I started with very little knowledge of SEO strategies and have made 5 sales from affiliates I promote on my site. I have been working like crazy trying to get a grasp on Googles Page Rank system to take advantage of getting traffic, but it seems slow to update. Are the spiders used to crawl the web slow to update? And have I had very reasonable success to date?
I also forgot to add that my idex page currently has a Page Rank of 2
I also forgot to add that my index page currently has a Page Rank of 2
2 is a good rank for this early on. The best place to get your answers is actually in the webmaster info section of the search engines you’re interested in doing well with.
For example, google->about->webmaster centeral:
http://www.google.com/webmasters/
Things change all the time, last I checked most updates were done about every 30 days (probably more often though).
The system is designed, in most cases, for progress to be slow. If it were too fast it would kind of blow the whole point of people being able to find the highest quality search results.
If you’re interested in page rank, you’ll find a site or two like slashdot, watch for articles you can write intelligent comments on and post, with your URL listed in your info & signature, with a little plug. This will bring your site rank up and get you traffic. It’s not spaming because you’re legitimately contributing content (if you’re not, your comments will be pushed out or you’d be kicked out).
Another thing you can do, in place of some of your ads might be to use some google ads. They do pay well. You can optimize that too.
The google ads show ads basted on the content of your site. If you get an adwords account and pretend to set up ads you’d like to run the tool will show you, based on keywords you choose or based on your site, all relevant and related keywords along with 2 important tidbits! 1) Search popularity and 2) Competition!
This lets you see what keywords will get you hits and which keywords will pay-out the most for ads. Make sure a lot of your content uses that material and you’re set.
I know someone running a fight a DUI site where he uses a blog to post stuff from the news now & then. He’ll use the slashdot/fark posting to help with page rank and he makes great money just on google ads!

Best content management system for seo/ siloing?
I will be doing siloing as part of my seo strategy. This means that I will need a more complex yet clean internal linking structure. The home page will need all the main categories linked to and then the categories will need to link to each of their respective sub categories. (and likely one more layer deep).
Additionally I am looking for software that leaves clean links and is very seo friendly in many other ways (keywords in url, etc.).
Which content management software do you advise and why?
(Joomla, wordpress, pligg, drupal, others?)
WordPress would be my first choice. Most themes are pretty SEO out-of-the-box and if not you can always find great plugins such as All In One SEO.
